A Letter From A Supporter...

This is the story of why, how, and what regarding this mission for these horses as presented by one of our biggest supporters.

“I am here to introduce to you a very unique non-profit, the ResQranch. This is NOT you typical horse rescue ranch as it not only applies to horses but to those of us affected by the power of a horse or donkey! ” Sometimes when we rescue animals, they are actually rescuing us. Learn more about improving your own health, through horse therapy with us” and “Words cannot describe the feeling of joy and well-being from interacting with horses” More about that later.

The ResQranch has been in place for several years. Just didn’t have a permanent location for the past 11 years. You might be interested in how it all came together: The founder's words:

“Honestly, while sitting helpless and hopeless on the floor of a vandalized, burglarized house, with two little kids, one in diapers still, and not even so much as a can opener to open a can of food from the food bank, and just to help me get through it, I imagined what life could be if money was no option. Right then I developed the idea of the ResqRanch to help me have something to hang on to to get through one of the toughest times of my life”

The ResQranch focus and mission is:.

We strive to improve the lives of all animals, primarily horses, and their people, through our programs, classes, and workshops. In these ways we fulfill people, animals, and our mission while educating future generations to responsibly care for the beautiful and fascinating creatures that we are lucky enough to have in our lives.

Now she has finally, after years of searching, just recently found property to make her dreams come true. Let me share her words with you when she found it!

First, the property is simply….magical. Beautiful trees. Gently rolling pastures. Took over 30 minutes to walk the entire fence line. Just wonderful! You do have to tune out the interstate highway noise. And you do have to ignore the tall weeds, Dying trees. Low branches. Fencing all in terrible condition. Barbed wire. Yikes!! Lots more too but the foundation is good and the bones of it all are otherwise solid.  I have no idea how I’m going to navigate this all on my own!

And who is the person? Dr. Jena Questen, DVM, owner of Aspen Park Veterinarian Hospital in Conifer. As you can see she has endured and struggled to reach her dreams. What is even more impressive is she was just named the 2022 Small Business of the Year for the State of Colorado! I am surprised 9 News didn’t recognize that accomplishment. But she had a zoom call with President Biden, and got to meet and have calls with Governor and several State Senators. Hard to beat that. More information can be seen on the Small Business Administration’s website, and on her YouTube channel The1DrQ.

She needs help. You can see that. And once she gets that place up and running people from all over can come enjoy the power of the horse and especially the power of the donkey!

On a personal note. I had the chance to visit her about 5 years ago when she was living on a small section of land with 2 horses, a donkey, her two girls with just a big Rottweiler for protection. That is when I felt the power of the Donkey! It was amazing actually. I am 74  and have been living with a incurable, painful autoimmune disease for the last 15 years.  When you live with chronic pain you loose the feeling of joy. That day of my visit we were walking up the hill back to the house. I had to stop to catch my breath and when I turned around, Donkey was standing right behind me! What an awesome feeling I had. JOY. It has not happened since. I can’t wait for her to open her ResQranch for all to enjoy!

Thank you for reading and please consider supporting this cause through either subscribing to the YouTube channel The1DrQ, donating time or money, or participating on one of their world class programs.”
