Dr. Jena Questen

👋 Hey animal lovers! Thanks for watching! 😊 Today's video takes you on a peaceful morning ranch tour, featuring our beloved horses enjoying their retirement in a large, green pasture at our animal rescue. Their only job is to relax and occasionally participate in parade's (but only if they want) , horse care, or interact with guests. This glimpse into the lives of our rescue horses highlights the serene existence they lead, and that you can experience here with them!

One story I can tell you, is about a day last week, when we were out mucking the corral by hand (since our tractor is still down, although we have gotten a couple of significant donations in the past few days, just almost enough to get it fixed, grateful for that!), Rhoen sauntered over to where we had just cleaned. I looked at her closely, and I thought to myself, she is going to poop right there. So I looked her right in the eye and I said "You see what work we are doing here, you better not poop right there girl!". Her head went up and her eyes got big, and she promptly walked off to where we were dumping the manure, turned around, backed up, and pooped right on the pile! We just stood with our mouths agape, and then, put the shovels down and praised her greatly. She just stood there happily like, wow, I am the smartest girl in the world. It was quite something to see! And you think they don't understand you? I would beg to differ, we just don't give them a chance!

And for those folks who visit here, and decide which horse they want to pet, and the horse won't come near them, it is often a bit of a tough pill to swallow for people (and kids) who are used to getting everything they want on their terms, when they get humbled just a bit and have to take life into consideration on the animals terms, not theirs, for a change. That's why horses, and all animals, are such good teachers. They reflect back, to us, our deepest selves. And why you, or someone you love, should come visit us!

We are having our first Open House of the summer Sunday June 14th at noon until 1:30, call us for shoot us an email for more details about parking, etc. Hope to see you!

Today I am grateful for restful sleep, I am grateful for the little bit of green grass we have although without rain it's not as much as I would wish for. I am grateful all the animals are happy and chipper this morning. I am grateful we had a great day at work yesterday. I am grateful both my kids are home and doing well. I am grateful all of our preparations for a busy summer seem to be coming along so well.

What about you, you Animal Loving Angel? What are you grateful for today? Remember, there is always, always, something to be grateful for. So find something to be grateful for today. A flower, a bird song. That you can breathe. That you woke up. And today, be kind to yourself. Everyone is going through something. And sometimes, we don't even know how we come off to other people. But animals always know, and respond to us in ways that are true reflection of what is happening deep inside. So if you feel like at times you are having trouble truly, deeply connecting with your animals, whether it's a horse, dog, cat, or fish, and you want more, remember, I am here for you.

In the mean time, be kind to yourself, do something nice for someone else expecting nothing in return, and strive to be just a little better, than you were, yesterday.

All my love, always,
