Dr. Jena Questen
👋 Hey animal lovers! Thanks for watching! 😊 This video highlights our unique approach to horse training, whether it's a young mustang horse or a donkey, emphasizing positive reinforcement over force. We focus on building a strong equine bond through effective horsemanship, teaching horse behavior and promoting safety and clarity, for both the horse lover and the animals. Come join us at ResqRanch to learn more about our animal rescue efforts, through teaching the best method of training any animal to do anything, positive reinforcement!
The best of my day yesterday was going on a walk with just Natalia and my oldest daughter, just the three of us. And Natalia was perfect even by I-70 with all of the traffic whizzing by. I am grateful for that. I am grateful for the gentle rain storm that is bringing the land some much needed moisture. I am grateful for Bento who chased Dixie yesterday, but then, immediately stopped as soon as I called him, but not before being very helpful by bringing her up from the far back field where she was hanging out all by herself. She is quite the independent senior lady. I am so impressed and proud of him for stopping chasing her immediately when I asked, and with a big smile on his face. He has certainly come a long way in the few months we have had him. I am grateful I got to eat some of the delicious Persian rice I made over the weekend. My family is Iranian as you know, and their food is some of the best in the world. I can’t make it nearly as well as my aunties, but I sure can try! I am also grateful for my tremendous view from my front deck. It might be noisy with the highway right there, but it is easy to forget when you just choose to tune in to the birds, and learn to ignore the hum of the traffic. One day perhaps all of the trucks will be electric, and then, this will be a peaceful, quiet valley indeed. One can hope!
Today I am excited because we are finalizing our 3-day summer clinics. The first day will be a recap of the Horse Training Relationship Building Masterclass, and then progressing to solving catching problems, and ending with solving leading problems with a special module at the end of the third day with some distractions to test your ability to still use R+, or positive reinforcement, even in the face of significant distractions. Who cares? Anyone who wants to be around horses safely, using kindness instead of force. Build your confidence you can handle any situation with any horse on the ground, BEFORE climbing on their back.

This clinic is a must if you have been hurt by horses before and you are a little scared of them, or, even if you have not been hurt, but your still a little scared of them (as you should be, and ignore anyone who tells you otherwise). Let’s face it, horses are huge, claustrophobic prey animals whose instinct is to run first, ask questions later. That can be a problem for you, if you are not ready for that. This clinic will teach you everything you need to know about basic ground manners, and how to get them, through relationship and trust, not force or submission. If that sounds good, don’t miss this clinic!
And what about you, my Animal Loving Angel, what are you grateful for on this soggy Wednesday? Are you grateful you woke up? That you can breath fresh air? That you were able to get up and have all the means needed to head in to work? I sure hope so! And remember, be kind to yourself today. You deserve it. Your life has a meaning and purpose, you matter. If nothing else, we need you to help advocate for the adorable animals!
You know what they say, a little better, every day, in every way!
And if any part of you, means finding new, better ways to address any health or behavior issues you are having with your dog, cat, or fish, remember, we are here for you at Aspen Park Vet Hospital. We offer true ‘out of the box’ thinking that takes into account the ‘whole’ animal, and you, including how to make a nutritious home made diet, even if it’s from items from the food bank. We are here to help you make sure you don’t waste money on tests your pets doesn’t need, while taking the time to address every single one of your questions and concerns, often even some you have not thought of yet!
And if part of you yearns for a deeper connection with horses, then, go to ResqRanch.org, and join the FREE community there to get the entire Horse Relationship Building Masterclass, that’s right, for FREE! Not sure how much simpler and easier I can make that for you. And if you want hands on help implementing it, sign up for one of our 3-day clinics. If you have ever felt icky about how someone told you to solve a training issue, because you didn’t want to be mean to your horse, then you are definitely in the right place!
