Dr. Jena Questen
👋 Hey animal lovers! Thanks for watching! 😊 This animal video highlights the critical need for forever homes for thoroughbred race horses after their careers. Join us for our upcoming charity event, the Rescued Racehorse Derby Event fundraiser, to support these equine athletes in their horse retirement and help our horse rescue continue its vital work.
Be sure to catch me on Great Day Colorado this morning, live tv, talking about your upcoming fundraiser for our rescue horses!
Today is the first day of May! April showers bring May flowers, let’s hope there are lot’s of flowers over the next 4 weeks!
We did not get much horse training done yesterday, because we got 4 tons of hay delivered instead, and my daughter and I were the only ones here to prepare for it, and, without a tractor. My back was hurting from all the poop scooping I had to do to make a poop free zone to store the delivery of hay. It was a lot of maneuvering, and corralling of animals, and reconfiguring fencing, and trying to place boards under the hay so they don’t rot with the rain and snow, all while trying to take the nails out of the boards so the horses would not get hurt on them. It was a lot of configuring, and running back and forth, and worrying if the skid would make it through the manure pile, slipping and sliding in the deep muck, because again, we can’t use the tractor to clean it up and there is only so much my back can handle with 9 animals.
That is the primary focus of our fundraiser, our Kentucky Derby Rescue Horse Event this Saturday, is for tractor repairs. While most folks are either cheering on the racehorses, or, avoiding racing all costs due to hatred for the sport, either way, the ResqRanch is one of the only facilities actually looking out for those horses who survived the industry and now need a forever home where they can relax and retire for their great service.
So despite the people who think 99% of horses die on the track, most, do not, and when they are getting older, the racing industry loves them enough to find them new homes as best they can, especially with the help of people like you.
Today I am grateful for the Evergreen High School theater. I am grateful both of my children wanted to do theater and have done it throughout their school years. I am grateful we got hay, and it is here, safely, covered, protected from the weather, with excellent, safe access for the horses, so they can enjoy free choice hay, a rare feeding practice indeed among any world class horse facility and we are proud to offer that to our rescues. I am grateful. Much to be grateful for there!
What about you? It’s Friday! Give yourself a high five in the mirror. Come out for a good cause for rescue horses toorrow to the Wild Game, and be kind to yourself, and others. Everybody is going through something, so be gentle with yourself, and each other. It does not mean you let anyone run over you, after all, everyone should be safe in their own safety circle. However, take a moment to notice what you are noticing, and choose to erect with kindness, no matter what you see.
Have a wonderful Friday, make it great! Wear your best hat and see you tomorrow at the Wild Game!
