Dr. Jena Questen

April Fool’s Day! Just kidding! Today is a day to be playful and fun. I hope you laugh extra today.

Yesterday I set out to do a one hour YouTube livestream, only to discover that YouTube shut off my stream after 7 minutes. So I spent the next hour talking to absolutely no one. Seems like a metaphor for something, am I right? Oh well. At least I did get some horse training accomplished, and no one got to see me awkwardly climb on and off Cesar’s naked back. At least I didn’t fall off! I had wanted to train with Natalia, but, Cesar got in the way and insisted I work with him instead. I am still a little reluctant to do anything with him, especially by myself, after our bad accident 2 summer’s ago now. But, since I thought I was being watched (although I wasn’t), I really stuck to my R+ with him throughout the session, which is probably a good thing, and I didn’t push him even though I know his training is far advanced beyond what we did do. I basically just did naked grooming with him, which he did great, and then worked on getting on him bareback. At first I had a bridle on, but he got a little anxious, so then I took it off and just used a neck rope, which he also did not like. So after that I just worked on getting on him with absolutely nothing, trusting him. And he seemed to do better with that. I just sat on him and did some deep breathing and some yoga poses. I would highly recommend trying the same and testing your relationship with your horse.

So how about we do that, let’s for the month of April only work with our horses through either protected contact through a fence, or only without any restraining equipment on them whatsoever. That is my challenge to you. The 30 day springtime invest in my relationship with my horse challenge. Who’s in?!

Today I am grateful for my shoes. I am grateful for my reliable truck. I am grateful for my mostly housebroken house rooster. I am grateful for my fish, and for my friend helping me make my very own fish food. I am grateful for my tv, and the little bit of moisture we got yesterday, although we really need more so the grass can grow. I am grateful for the full moon although it was cloudy so I didn’t get to see it. I am grateful for the astronauts heading off to the moon today and excited for their journey and wishing them safe travels.

What are you grateful for today? I hope you are confident in your decisions today, and that you are surrounded by love. Know you are on the path to achieving your dreams, and that anything you set your mind to, you can accomplish. You are in control of your life, and you are becoming the best version of yourself. So be grateful today, you Animal Loving Angel, and if I can be of help to you in your journey with your animals, remember, I am here for you. Have the most wonderful day, and thank you for being here today!
