Dr. Jena Questen

Yesterday the best part of my day was walking up to Natalia, who was laying down out in the sun in the front field, and laying down with her for a few minutes. Not only did she not get up, she even nudged an itchy spot on her side, and I scratched it for her, and she got even more relaxed and made funny faces with her lips. Complete trust. It was a magical moment. She never once tried to 'mug' me for food, proof that R+ or positive reinforcement training does not necessarily lead to mugging. More so, it leads to a deep bond and trust, where they are ok with you going out to pet them even when they are vulnerable and laying down. Now who doesn't want that? We are excited for all the folks who have already signed up at ResqRanch.org to join us for her, and her sister Chilli's, birthday event happening on the 22nd!

I needed to record some video segments to go along with the training videos we did with Cesar last weekend. I tried to get him to come and be in the video with him, but he was not really wanting to. It was such a nice sunny day, they all just wanted to relax and soak up the sun. Can’t say as I blame them.
Despite some technical difficulties with my new microphone not working with my current model of phone (ugh), I figured out a work-around and completed the video clips. It was a very busy day with the day delivery, the shavings delivery, getting the videos done, getting the barn chores done for the day, and speaking to the hospital several times throughout the day helping them help some of our patients.

Today what am I grateful for? I am grateful for my TV, my beautiful black wrought iron coat rack, for the hay my neighbor delivered yesterday, the check I was able to write to him for that hay, the free wood chips also delivered to us yesterday, and that I get another day to try to do better today than I did yesterday (or last week, or last year, you get it).

What about you, Animal Loving Angel? How was your day yesterday? Are you ready for today? I did a 20 minute mindfulness meditation at 5 am today in order to get my head, heart, emotions and intentions in order, before starting this day. Remember, today is all any of us have. Tomorrow is promised to no one. We have to leave yesterday behind, and not force the results of tomorrow, we only have today. Every breath. Every thought is unique, and another opportunity to reset and move a little closer to the life of your dreams. So today I hope you will be mindful of your vibration, or your emotions, and that they may be high all day, full of gratitude, laughter, joy, and certainty, that life is exactly as how it should be, and that everything you dream of will be yours in the right time. Today, I am wishing you all the best, and hoping when you get home from work tonight, you remember to dance in your barefeet, if only for a moment. Make that connection with the earth, and be grateful for all that you have, all that you are, and all that you will have. And if animals are part of that journey, and you would like to have any guidance or support from me to help bring your relationship to the next level, remember, I am here for you. Have the best day ever!
