Dr. Jena Questen
Today I am grateful I woke up, for a warm house, running water, healthy children and animals, cozy winter underlayers, body lotion, and a good night sleep.
Yesterday was very busy and productive around the ranch. Being out of the big bales now, and the tractor still being down anyway, means a whole lot more physical labor morning and night to feed small bales out in the field. Our order of big bales should be arriving any day now, I am hoping it is this week.
Knowing it would be like that, I wrapped my ankle yesterday to prepare, and got to work. While mucking and feeding and doing chores, we simultaneously did a lot of protected contact training with Rhoen, Cesar and Chilli. Chilli was feeling very spicy yesterday so I was grateful to be on the other side of the fence from her.
Once that was done, and the horses started to settle down and eat, and the barn area was clean, we got out Sugar and Donkey to do some leading and trailer loading practice with them. You can see this on our live from yesterday. Patti did a great job of demonstrating how to work through resistance! I am proud of her.
Then we worked with Natalia, trailer loading, leading, and then began the transition from leading to lunging. She did a few rears with excitement and just expressing herself. She is never trying to run away, or hurt us, she is just like a little top exploding with nerves and joy. I am looking forward to getting that on command.
Finally we worked with Natalia to try to teach her to to Chilli's 'fence' trick, since Chilli showed us up last week by coming when called from a distance, lining up perfectly, and allowing a rider to mount bareback while she stool perfectly still.
It's Monday, you have the whole week ahead of you. What will you do to make the most of it? Don't feel any pressure, thought, remember, you are just in the right place, and just the right time. All you can do is be the best you, you can be, in each and every moment throughout the day, and hang on to the visualization of what your perfect life would look like, if that is not what you are living in today.
Wishing you the best, most fun, joyful and abundant Monday. Remember, the more fun you have, the happier you, and everyone else around you will be. So take a moment to have fun, it's not silly, it's actually feeding your soul, and your mental health. Have the most wonderful day, you Animal Loving Angel, thanks for being here.
