Dr. Jena Questen

Did you know horses can sense your heartbeat? Yesterday I rode two horses, both bareback, and I was fully aware the entire time that they could sense my level of anxiety through my pulse in my femoral artery in my legs wrapped around them. That is why for building a strong bond with your horse, I do recommend starting out by riding ‘naked’, or without a saddle, so the horse can really feel you, and you can feel them, and build trust in a smaller, safe space, before advancing to a saddle and more advanced riding skills. This is one of the best ways to build a strong bond with your horse. After all, if you don’t trust them, why should they trust you?

I rode Rhoen by myself because no one else was around yet, in a small corral, bareback and in just a halter, just trying to get her more comfortable with carrying a person around in a low pressure setting. She has actually been ridden very few times in her life so it’s still a pretty new thing for her. Later, when volunteers arrived, I had them help with sitting on Natalia, who is now 2 ½ years old. Again, bareback, and I just sat on her while she ate a big pan of hay pellets and just shifted my weight around on her, and used the reins and my legs to guide her around the pan. She was a little anxious, and so was I if I am being honest. So we both spent time in the safest setting possible. I am grateful for the chance we got to practice getting comfortable with trusting each other in a new way.

I am also grateful I woke up today and can continue to bring my message of positive reinforcement horse training to the world. But it’s more than that. I want to help ALL animal lovers to deepen their spiritual and emotional connection with animals through science and compassion. Do you ever find yourself frustrated with your cat who is trying to annoy you to get your attention when they want to be fed? Or get annoyed with your dog who is getting into things and can’t be trusted, causing you to have to take time out of your day to manage them when you wish you could just not have to worry about that? Well I can certainly help you with those things, too. Easily, and quickly. So don’t just accept those as an inevitable part of having a pet. Realize that a few little day to day changes can bring you to have an even deeper, more meaningful bond with your animals, and I am just the one to help get you there. How?

Well, for one you can come make an appointment with me at Aspen Park Vet Hospital. Not to just do a physical exam, but to do a longevity assessment using my Life Skill Quiz. And if you want to take that a step further, find out how you can get access to my comprehensive program StealMoreYears, for FREE by being a part of the pre-launch. If that sounds good to you, type YES in the comments below!

I am grateful for this new day and all the opportunities for joy and laughter it brings. I am grateful my ankle doesn’t hurt. I am grateful to have every reason to believe I will accomplish all of my goals, right on time, so I can best serve the people around me.
