Today I am grateful I have a special message for all the real horse lovers out there. I am not talking about the folks of privilege who had had everything given to them, the fancy horses, the lessons, the expensive tack, I am talking to the rest of us. Those who always dreamed of horses. Whose families sacrificed so you could have your dream. For those who love horses with all their heart so much it almost hurts. Those who want a horse with a deep burning desire. And those who got that dream horse, and then suffered from guilt, indecision, confusion when things didn’t always go right. The struggles of trying to reconcile are horses worth it after that injury. Or the struggles of who to listen to to help, and not feeling good deep in your heart with often the unkind advice that is given. Is that what it really takes, you wonder. For those who struggle in the night with guilt and worry, about the horse. About how they are handling the horse. How can they accomplish their dreams with this horse, and did you make a mistake? How can something so wonderful and magical, also cause so much worry, insecurity, and doubts?

Today, if any of this resonates with you, then I am here for YOU. Why? Because I was you. My whole life. I loved horses. I couldn’t imagine how I could ever get one, and that is a terribly sad feeling. Then I did. And along came with it the questions. The worries. Am I doing this right? Why can’t I do this? Did I make a huge mistake? Who can help me achieve what so many others seem to so easily achieve? What is wrong with me, when I love them the most? And why does so much of this advice feel bad? I don’t want to do that to my horse, I love them!

I am grateful for horses and all they do for so many people, the magical feelings they instill in us no matter what craziness is happening in the world. I am grateful for my past which gave me the empathy needed to give this away. And I am grateful for you, my people, the other horse crazy Animal Loving Angels, who know what I mean.

So let this year of the horse be the year you love your horse, and yourself, enough, to add another tool to your toolbox. Now there is no excuse. New year, new chance for a new magical relationship with your horse. I don't care if you are 5 or 105. You can do this! I will be there to help make it easy for you. And when you are on the other side, my deepest wish is to see the transformation in the depth of the bond you have with all of your animals, for the rest of your life. I can change the world into a kinder, gentler place, one animal lover at a time.
